Roland vh 11 superior drummer 3 how to#
Shame they didnt all decide to follow either rolands GN/GS mapping or Yamaha`s equivalent.Roland electric drum kits are some of the world’s best electronic drum kits, providing players of all levels with the ultimate options whether they’re just learning how to play, in need of professional performance or utilising them for studio work.

It IS a pain in the ass, but you wont have to keep doing it over and over plus fwiw you`ll have the same problem with pretty much every other DAW out there. All you have to do is insert the keymap in reaper & you can then see what is where in the ezd output and tweak accordinglu. Some kind souls have already written drum note maps for almost all the available EZXs and a lot of the superior SDxs.

The third oprtion & the one most of us use is to download from the reaper.stash the reaper drum key maps you will find there. So you have to find a way of changing the MIDI note numbers for each pad in the roland to match those of whichever EZD kit you are using, or adjust them in EZD. This is introducing a somewhat weird twist into the situation.īack to drum maps: Your roland will be assigning its MIDI notes to specific MIDI note numbers within its own sound banks and they are pretty much guaranteed NOT to be the same ones as EZD is expecting to see. ? WHY are you plugging the TD15 into the TD9?Īlso, are you plugging in via MIDI or the audio outs? The VDrums forum is usually pretty good on this sort of stuff. I will have a dig around and see if anyone has put anything up anywhere about tweaking your particular kit as you dont appear to have had much luck so far in that area. Incidentally, I have 3 toms on my TD & om a fair few drum rompler kits that I have they default to one or two toms, which means tweaking keymaps, so get used to having to do it, mate.

Sd2 and nowadays DEFinitely SD3 are far and away the best equipped to set up things like response curves for hihats, etc., but dont forget you also have a large amount of tunability within your Roland kit too.īefore TT started upping their game on HH programming I found the response settings on my elderly TD8 kit were actually pretty good once I figured out how to use them. you have to add the MIDI note either by hand or using a drumkeymap like I said.Ĭan you tewll me exactly WHICH of the three drum romplers you say you are rtying that you want to sort out your HH settings on? If your Toonrtack V STi is only showing one "live" tom tom, it will only respond to one MIDI note. Regarding the toms you ARE going to have to use the correct drumkeymap in reaper in order for EZD or SD3 or any other drum rompler to play the right sample for what your e-kit says it is sending as a MIDI note. Thank you to all have the knowledge to help me get past this hump!! Is there a way to connect the Roland module multi channel for recording in Reaper with what I have? Have any of you drummers out there had any luck with getting your Roland VH-11 hi-hat to articulate (respond cleanly to open and closed edge and bow stick responses) with any of the VSTI's like Steven Slate, Addictive Drums, etc? I am not very knowledgeable on Reaper as I am certainly a newbie. I also have a Behringer Xenyx 802USB mixer that I have used without recording in Reaper. The VH-11 is the major hang up so what I would like to do if I can't get the Hi-hat to respond with EZ Drummer 2 is to bypass the VSTI and go directly into Reaper from my Focusrite either as audio or midi and utilize multi-channels. I was happy with the module being connected midi to the Focusrite interface, and that in-turn connected to my laptop via USB where Reaper was able to see it, and using EZ Drummer 2 midi samples I did have multi-channel recording and playback for each of my drums and cymbals. My module has a left and right audio output and a midi out as well as the USB connection for the computer. When plugging my headphones directly into the TD-15 module, and connecting the TD-15 module USB into my laptop where Reaper picks it up (although it is only one track), the hi-hat responds much better without the VSTI EZ drummer 2 plug-in.

After spending $175 on the software and buying a Focusrite 2i4 audio/midi interface making many attempts with emailing Toontrack I have pretty much given up on their midi note mapping with my Roland module. I have been attempting to get my VH-11 Roland Hi-Hat to articulate (Toontrack, EZ Drummer 2 term) with no luck.
